Everything to do with the DnpUtils plugin for MyGeneration

error Dnp.Utils.Utils' is defined in an assembly (v1.2.0.5)

Postby mpaine on Mon Apr 09, 2007 3:09 am

I am trying to use the EntitySpaces_VB_Generated_Master using v1.2.0.5 but I'm getting the following error upon generation:

Scripting Error:

Files\\MyGeneration\\Templates\\EntitySpaces\\VB\\Generated\\EntitySpaces_VB_esCollection.csgen

c:\\Documents and Settings\\michael\\Local Settings\\Temp\\yzvwtvzm.0.cs

Error Number: CS0012

Line: 147, 1

The type 'Dnp.Utils.Utils' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'Dnp.Utils, Version=1.1.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

[Error] c:\\Documents and Settings\\michael\\Local Settings\\Temp\\jkcpexyq.0.cs (147, 1) CS0012: The type 'Dnp.Utils.Utils' is defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to assembly 'Dnp.Utils, Version=1.1.5.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=null'.

..big hmmm...

(edit) Interestingly, I installed MyGeneration onto a fresh machine and noticed there isn't any EntitySpace template directory. Why is this (I figure this could be part of the above problem)?

MyGeneration is a 100% free code generator/OR mapping tool. It is a powerful, full featured, extensible tool with a huge library of free, downloadable templates and excellent support. It ships with the dOOdads Architecture and has an active user community for a variety of other persistance frameworks. dOOdads is not currently under active development, but if someone wants to take up the mantle, they should post in the dOOdads forum. MyGeneration is not limited to just generating persistence frameworks. It can handle any repetitive coding task, as is evident in the variety of user-supported templates available.

EntitySpacesis a commercial product that uses MyGeneration to generate BusinessObjects from your database schema. EntitySpaces is the .NET 2.0 successor to dOOdads, has the same lead architect, Mike Griffin, has features and significant improvements over and above just porting to .NET 2.0, and is actively maintained and supported. EntitySpaces and MyGeneration are separate programs with separate installs. MyGeneration does not include EntitySpaces templates.

And now... back to your regularly scheduled programming

The most likely cause of that error is that esPlugin.dll cannot be found. DnpUtils is a plugin that installs with MyGeneration, but esPlugin (which relies on DnpUtils) installs with EntitySpaces. MyGeneration should be installed first, closed, then EntitySpaces installed. If you continue to have issues generating with the EntitySpaces templates, please report them in the forums on the EntitySpaces site.

Exactly, these are the steps on the EntitySpaces home page:

Get Started Today:

I did follow the beta directions exactly so it must be a bug on ES's end. Since I was using beta versions for both MyGeneration and ES, I didn't know who wanted to claim that bug :) I just look forward to it working for me.

All the best,
Michael

I'll take credit for the bug, whatever it is. It's fixed, but we're waiting on approval from corporate before we pass it to the QA group.

mpaine, is there really a bug here or did reinstalling clear everything up?
