Setup problem on new 64-bit machine

Postby kwilder on Fri Feb 10, 2012 6:04 pm

I just bought a new 64-bit Dell laptop and I'm trying to install MyGeneration Software and it installs ok, but when I try to setup the default settings there are no drivers to select from.

What am I missing?

Thanks.

I think from memory you may need to fiddle with config files or something like this as the app installs to the Program Files(x86) directory.

It will work, but you will need to play a bit to get it all happy. I have it installed at work and it all works ok, but I don't use the UI just the generation ZEUS generation engine...

Good luck

CameronB, can you elaborate on the fiddling a little more. All of the config files seem to be there and they have content, but what populates the Drivers drop down list? Why is it empty? I need to fix this in order for me to get this to work, correct?

Thanks.

One more thing, I wasn't able to install any MDAC 2.7 or higher on my machine. The installer would just not install. Is this why the "Drivers", "Language" and "DbTarget" drop down lists are all empty or disabled?

What can I do to fix this? Thanks.

I'm seeing errors in the Errors pane of MyGeneration.

If I "Run As Administrator", I see this error:

Code: Select all
Message: Entry point was not found.

   at System.RuntimeType.GetFieldInfo(RuntimeType reflectedType, IRuntimeFieldInfo field)
   at System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.GetMethodInfoForComSlot(Type t, Int32 slot, ComMemberType& memberType)

   at System.EnterpriseServices.RegistrationDriver.ConfigureCollection(ICatalogCollection coll, IConfigCallback cb)
   at System.EnterpriseServices.RegistrationDriver.ConfigureComponents(ApplicationSpec spec)

If I open NOT as Administrator, I get this error:

Code: Select all
Exception Type: UnauthorizedAccessException
Source Line: Win32Error
Message: Access to the registry key 'HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\MyMeta.SQLite.SQLiteDatabase' is denied.

Detail: at Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey.Win32Error(Int32 errorCode, String str)

   at System.Runtime.InteropServices.RegistrationServices.RegisterAssembly(Assembly assembly, AssemblyRegistrationFlags flags)
   at System.EnterpriseServices.RegistrationDriver.ClassicRegistration(Assembly asm)

Any ideas? BTW, this is version 1.3.1.1 of MyGeneration.

It is quite a while since I installed it so I will have to look again when I'm back at work.

I do recall needing to run with adminis privileges, and may have had to set the main executable to run as a specific version.

As an after thought, as the source code is all available you may have some luck recompiling it all in visual studios. Certainly worth a try?

Ok, I got it to work. The problem was that it didn't like the CTP of SQL Server that I had installed. When installed SQL Server 2008 R2 Developer Edition, it all worked as it should.

I am having other problems with a plug-in I created, but I'll create a different post for that. Thanks for the help everyone.
