OKButton problem

I want to validate control values on template form before recording/submitting values. I'm able to attach to "OK" button onclick event, but I'm not able altern submit behavior of OK button, when control value are not valid. Thanks for any help.

Hi, I would like to know how do you attach the "OK" button onclick event or the "OK" button itself ( by id I think)
