Template to convert one file to another

Has anyone ever had to write a template that took a file as an input and creates a trimmed down version of that file as the output?

Remember, you can write templates in C# (or VB.NET) and use all the namespaces of .NET so anything .NET can do MyGeneration can do, however, that sounds more like just a little console app than a MyGeneration template, why use MyGeneration for that purpose?

i'm not sure, my Manager was having me edit 2 existing myGen templates, and create a third. This third one deals with using a .cs file as the input to create the output. i'm also looking into using Code smith to create the template...and now that i think about it, i may just use C#
